On first setup, Exevery downloads the shared ARM64 Linux / FEX / Wine runtime bundle (prefex-vz-ubuntu-24.04-arm64-fex-wine-v2, revision 2026-10-21, version 2.1.0) from Cloudflare R2.

• No Login Required (Decision 1A): Both Free Game Mode and Compatibility Mode users can download the runtime without creating an account. The macOS client sends a privacy-minimal salted hardware hash (X-Exevery-Device-Hash: SHA-256("exevery-device-v1:" + IOPlatformUUID)) and app version header (X-Exevery-App-Version) to POST /v1/runtime/download.
• 30-Minute Presigned URLs & HTTP Range Resume (Decision 3A): The API issues per-component 30-minute Cloudflare R2 S3v4 presigned GET URLs supporting HTTP Range requests (rate-limited to 5 download-session requests/day per device and 10/day per IP). If a download is interrupted, Exevery requests a fresh presigned URL and resumes from the last verified byte offset.
• Disk Space & SHA-256 Verification: Ensure at least 10 GB of free disk space before extraction. Each component is stored under <cache_dir>/prefex-vz-ubuntu-24.04-arm64-fex-wine-v2/2026-10-21/<filename> and verified against its SHA-256 digest and byte size prior to boot.

Exevery queries GET /v1/releases/manifest for split app_releases (kind = "app") and runtime_releases (kind = "runtime"):

• Runtime Revisions Always Eligible: All runtime compatibility updates (always_allowed_under_5a: true) and x.y.* hotfix patches for your owned major.minor app version remain eligible forever, even after your 1-year feature update window (updates_until).
